| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | O propósito da dissertação é caracterizar hipersuperfícies na esfera euclidiana com curvatura média de ordem superior constante. Provamos que se M é uma variedade riemanniana de dimensão n e a imagem da aplicação de Gauss de M está contida num hemisfério fechado da esfera de dimensão n+1 então M é totalmente umbílica. |
| Abstract: | The purpose of the dissertation is to characterize hypersurfaces in the Euclidean sphere with constant mean curvature of higher order. We prove that if M is a Riemannian manifold of dimension n and the image of the Gaussian map of M is contained in a closed hemisphere of the sphere of dimension n+1 then M is totally umbilical. |
