Abstract

This study analyzes domestic and family violence against women, over the years, covering historical considerations experienced by women, up to the present day. It studies the protection of women, prevention of feminicide, and the Emergency Protective Measures protected by Law No. 11,340 of 2006, from the perspective of identifying whether the institute is being sufficient to reach the desired level, which is the protection of women against this act of cruelty that is feminicide. The Maria da Penha Law brought new challenges, to the reality of women in the social context. Therefore, the study addresses historical aspects that permeate the culture of machismo and violence, the evolution of women in society and the transversalization of the Beviláqua Code and the incessant search for their identity and protection in society. In addition to the historical-legislative evolution regarding the changes that protect women in Brazilian law, it studies relevant aspects brought by the law, the Protective Measures and their analysis as an instrument for preventing Femicide. The situation of these protective measures and their relationship with the context of violence as a whole, providing data and exposing the reality of the facts. The method used consists of bibliographic review research. Finally, the study concludes that protective measures are instruments for preventing feminicide, even though they are not achieving the efficiency they intended and should have. It is expected that the advancement of social actions aimed at women will greatly combat and reduce the phenomenon of violence against women.
