Cartilha educativa "Coleções Zoológicas: conhecendo melhor" como ferramenta de ensino sobre a importância e organização das coleções científicas para população

Abstract

The zoological collections are extremely important for society, having a fundamental role in the cultural, scientific and didactic scope. Besides, to form a collection, an accountability organization is needed. Each material in the collection is unique, so those responsible for the collection must anticipate and remedy the risk factors that could damage it. That said, there are techniques and ways to conserve biological material, varying according to different species, such as dry, wet and refrigerated conservation. Moreover, after all the care with the materials, it is necessary that the species of the collection be registered in databases, where they can be accessed by the entire population through the internet. Faced with the lack of information about zoological collections by the community in general, there is a lack of teaching materials that approach collections in a clear and interactive way. This way, the construction of an educational booklet is a chance to bring the public closer to the scientific collections, and this can be done with the help of characters, illustrations, images and figures. For the production of the booklet, it was necessary to do bibliographic research to know better about the subject to be approached, in this case, the zoological collections. Besides that, the graphic design of the booklet was developed through the canva platform, where it has many illustrations and images resources. Thus, from the graphic design, together with bibliographic research, the booklet, entitled “Zoological Collections: Knowing Better.”. Therefore, to change the knowledge about zoological collections, so that they have due recognition by the community, this work consisted in a creation of an easily accessible and readable digital educational booklet, using colored tools to draw public attention to zoological collections, making them understand the organizations, conservation and importance of the object of study.
