Elas entre desigualdades: um estudo das representações sociais de adolescentes grávidas sobre a pobreza e o papel social da mulher

Abstract

The research on the intersection between poverty and gender, the objective of our study, proposes to understand in the life histories of pregnant adolescents, the social representations about poverty, feminine gender and the convergence of these themes in the life of these women. Poverty treated in our study as multidimensional poverty, derives from historical, social and political facts, affecting the material and symbolic plan of the subjects that are in it. Multidimensional poverty roots itself on constant social inequality and class discrimination. Similarly, the female sex as a social construction places the "place" of women throughout Western history as a marginal, secondary performance, as certain productions of gender studies and feminism conclude. Women have lived and still experience a history on the margins of social participation, resulting in the tasks of care, household and reproduction of naturalized offspring as the unique expression of female existence. Thus, peripherally, the poor and women continue to have difficulties in accessing the dynamics of social recognition, of citizenship, of dignity, what make them to reproduce subaltern existences. The research that originated this work was qualitative, having as informant pregnant adolescents attended by a CFS - Family Health Center, in the city of Sobral-CE. The data collection instrument was semi-structured interview. For the delineation of the object, we used bibliographical research on the categories adolescence, youth, poverty and women based on authors such as A. Bock, E. Badinter, F. Biroli, J. Souza, P. Bourdieu, S. Beauvoir, among others scholars. We investigate in this work the social representations of poverty and the feminine gender and, thus, we analyze the results of these dimensions on the lives of the volunteers. Through the Theory of Social Representations we have identified that the family social representations of poverty and of being a female influenced moral and material dimensions that considerably sketched the behavior of the young participants. The representations identified on these categories forged a place, space and position of reproductions more distanced in relation to the independence and individual autonomy
