Biblioteca Prisional No Instituto Penal Feminino Desembargadora Auri Moura Costa: cenário e possibilidades em prol da reinserção social

Abstract

The social transformations that permeate society result in the search for new practices in all institutions. In this context, the prison system necessarily had to review its actions against the prison population, particularly in what regards the commitment of crimes by women. The number of crimes practiced by this portion of the population has been growing exponentially, thus giving rise to a new look at this reality. In the Brazilian prison setting, the Law on Criminal Execution (LEP) was published, which brought in its scope the implementation of instruments that enable the reintegration of individuals deprived of their liberty. Thus, the prison library emerges with the important function of contributing to the improvement of the reality of the prison and favoring the social reinsertion of the prison population. In this context, we present the results of the research that has as general objective to analyze the function of the prison library in the female prison setting by means of the implementation of reading actions that favor the social reintegration of inmates at the Criminal Officers Institute Auri Moura Costa. The methodological approach is based on the exploratory studies, whose type of research was Sociopoética, in consonance with the observation in loco, besides being supported in a bibliographical research. The instrument of data collection was the experience of "geomythic places". The results reveal the existence of gaps that make it difficult to read the library in the prison environment, especially in the absence of a qualified professional. It was evident, even though in the face of the lack of structure this institution still manages to promote several benefits for the internal ones. It is concluded that, for the library to work effectively for social reintegration, it is essential that the necessary conditions be ensured.
