| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a mulher sacrificada a “femme fragile” em três contos da escritora irlandesa Edna O’Brien, a saber: “A Scandalous Woman”, “The Sisters” e “Honeymoon” – coletados de seu livro A Scandalous Woman and other Short Stories, publicado em 1974. O’Brien é uma autora visceralmente feminista e o tema da mulher sacrificada é recorrente em sua obra - razão pela qual nos propomos a identificá-la e analisá-la nos três contos supracitados. Primeiramente, discorreremos brevemente sobre a figura da mulher sacrificada em sua obra; em seguida, passaremos à análise literária de cada um dos três contos em particular e remataremos ao fazermos uma comparação entre o que eles têm em comum. |
| Abstract: | This paper aims at analyzing the sacrificed woman in three short stories from the Irish writer Edna O’Brien, namely: “A Scandalous Woman”, “The Sisters” and “Honeymoon” – collected from her book A Scandalous Woman and other Short Stories, published in 1974. O’Brien is a visceral feminist author and the theme of the sacrificed woman is recurrent in her work - that is why we intend to identify and analyze her in the three short stories before mentioned. Firstly, we will broach briefly about the sacrificed woman in her work; then we will do the literary analysis of each of the three short stories in particular and we will finish with a comparison of the coincidences they present. |
