| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este artigo aborda a atualidade dos fundamentos da Escola Nova na teoria educacional. Reflete acerca do surgimento desta teoria da educação e das condições sócio-educacionais que facilitaram sua aceitação no Brasil. Demonstra sua capacidade de permanência ao atravessar de forma transversal as teorias da educação que pretenderam superá-la. A força do ideário escolanovista é enfatizada, não só na filosofia da educação, como também na política educacional e na prática dos professores, em sua maioria, sempre simpáticos ao ideário renovador. |
| Abstract: | The present article deals with the relevance of the principies of the New School to the contemporary discussion on educational theory. It explores the emergence of this theory and the social and educational conditions which favored its adoption in Brazil, and it also shows how it has managed to outlive a number of educational theories intended to replace it. The article underscores the impact of the ideas of the New School upon educational philosophy and educational policies as well as their powerful appeal to the great majority of teaching professionals in Brazil. |
