Das veredas trágicas do feminino: o caminho das mulheres em Ésquilo e em Rosa

Abstract

This research aims to analyze two insurgent characters, one born within the ancient Greek imagination, which echoed in the voice of tragedians such as Aeschylus in his trilogy Oresteia, namely, Queen Clytemnestra, while the other, Diadorim/ Maria Deodorina, emerged in the Brazilian novel Grande Sertão: veredas (1956) by João Guimarães Rosa. Both characters overlap in social systems governed by men and for men, even though they have been described in different ways and in different periods. Besides them, we will discuss the other women described in the novel and in the tragedies. Consequently, they subvert structures and values, each within their own context, but it is still possible to establish a pertinent dialogue between these two powerful and divergent female figures. Therefore, the research is justified by the fact that it deals with a theme that reflects the role of women in society, from the classical Greek period to jagunço society, which culminates in their silencing. However, the diverse paths lead us to the labyrinthine and monstruous path of the female in-between place that crosses light and darkness to fight for what it believes in, capable of anything to achieve its goals. These women use digressive and sometimes controversial actions that leads us to dialogue as an intrinsic nuance of being, which is why the path they took was so painful, tragically leading them to death. Therefore, our theoretical contribution focuses on the concept of the feminine in light of reception studies, the tragic, the Modern, and the Contemporary, based primarily on the following authors: Judith Butler (2006), Lorna Hardwick (2003), Fábio Lessa (2014), Luiz Roncari (2004), Junito Brandão (1989), Wille Bolle (2004), Jean-Pierre Vernant (2014), and Albin Lesky (2006).
