Abstract: The assemblage of fishes onshore Salguero and Aeropuerto Beaches, at Santa Marta, Colombian Caribbean, was analyzed by means of catch sampling made with beach-seine from August to October, 2003. Ten trawling operations were effected by a 50-meter long beach-seine, whereby a total of 7,457 individuals were collected, being distributed over 31 families, 51 genera and 58 species and comprising a total biomass of 171,188 kg. The most representative species in relative abundance were Anchoa hepsetus (27.88%) and Ophisthonema oglinum (36.89%), whereas species Trichurus lepturus (26.17%) and Polydactylus virginicus (25.98%) showed the biggest relative biomass. Opisthonema oglinum, Trichiurus lepturus, Ophioscion punctatissimus and Polydactylus virginicus produced the highest Index of Relative Importance and most of the sampled species were shown to belong to families Sciaenidae and Carangidae. The presence of the ray Urotrhygon venezuelae in the samples was considered as a first report occurrence of this species in the study area.
