Abstract: The technologycal development gave undoubtful advantages to the graffic industry. For the long time the book was considerated an object to the bourgeois and with the technological develpopment it became popular and it can bought by everyone by a price almost always compatible with their buying power. Therefore, the graffic industry has to sue great artificies to create an equal level between the coast and the buying power of the people. This procedure, when it does not descharacterize the book itself, it will do in its use when used by the searcher or the consumer. No rare the finishing part is the scape valve used to reduce the graffic coast in the industry of the brazilian book. The modern industry, with fast resources and great quality, causes high operational costs which would be a barrier to the consumer. The solution is almost always the the rationalization of the finishing part. The brazilian graffic industry uses three systems to finish the text of the book (SEAM, STAMPLE, AND GLUING), these systems when associated to the ways of binding the boos (harb-back and paper-back) and two systems of making the falts of books (Anglo-American and French) characterize the Brazilian book actualy. All these systems, when combined with coherence, give good results. Therefore, the editorial insdustry, which has not had the same development that the graffic industry had permits the bad use of the ways of finishing the books and, consequently, it does note favor the consumer. The author discussed the advantages of combining these systems in such way that it can guarantee in the income expected by the graffic industry, and the functionality and durability demanded the editorial industry for the consumer.
