O impacto do FIES no financiamento das faculdades privadas brasileiras: um estudo na Faculdade do Vale do Jaguaribe

Abstract

In recent years, FIES, higher education funding program for low-income students, has been very important in facilitating access to higher education for brazilian students. This has brought to the private colleges a new quantity of students in an amazing way, significantly modifying their financing. Based on this, this study has a main purpose to analyze the importance of FIES in the financing of private Brazilian colleges. This research has a qualitative approach and was developed through a case study at the Vale do Jaguaribe College (FVJ), in Aracati, State of Ceará, using documentary analysis, bibliographic research and an interview with the faculty manager, responsible for the administrative and financial area of the institution, to gather information about the changes that the program of financing brought to the institution during its growth, stagnation and decline. The research showed that, in recent years, the growth of FIES had a significant impact on the financing of private Brazilian colleges and that the reduction in the number of vacancies offered by the program has negatively impacted on financing private higher education in the country.
