O papel político do educador: Gramsci e Adorno

Abstract

This article intends to demonstrate, based on Garmsci and Adorno’s thoughts, the importance of the political role of the educator to the strengthening of a new historical bloc and to the formation of the individuals’ critical, reflexive, clarified and autonomous thinking. This contributes to uncover the illusory reality and to generate a new social world. Therefore, it becomes clear that the educator practice cannot be neutral in face of the social and educational reality, since the pedagogical work is essentially political even if the educator is aware – or not – of this fact. So, the formation of an autonomous and clarified conscience is not spontaneous, neither natural; it demands the help of external elements which central mediation happens through education. Here lies the specificity of the political role of the educator.
