Cultura e ideologia na modernidade

Abstract

The article examines the role of culture and ideology in shaping the perspectives on modernism, i.e. how changes in the European intellectual mind were influenced by innovations brought about by the advent of western bourgeois lifestyles. The authors examine this subject from two perspectives: horizontally, by trying to map some of the original thinkers who examined this question; and vertically, by undertaking the issue of examining more contemporary theoreticians who took part in the debate in the twentieth century, some of whom used orthodox methodologies, such as the works of Gramsci's The ideology and Marcus' Industrial Societies.
