| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa que teve como finalidade uma análise de representações sobre mulher e feminilidade em matérias de três publicações da edição especial VEJA MULHER. Tomamos a Hermenêutica de Profundidade (HP) como referencia para a nossa trajetória investigativa e a análise de discurso como método específico de análise. O estudo nos levou a concluir que VEJA MULHER não difere das chamadas “revistas femininas”, apresentando temas como: moda, beleza e maternidade, através de um discurso marcadamente prescritivo. No entanto, a ênfase conferida à profissão e ao trabalho feminino modificam, em parte, as representações sobre as mulheres, fornecendo novos valores para a construção da identidade feminina, relacionados, por sua vez, a projetos de vida voltados para o consumo |
| Abstract: | This article presents the results of a research whose main purpose was to analyze representations of women and womanliness found in three special editions of the magazine Veja devoted do women issues (Veja Mulher). The principal methodological references were In-depth Hermeneutics and Discourse Analysis. The study concluded that Veja Mulher is not different from the so-called “feminine magazines”, presenting issues such as fashion, beauty, and maternity, by means of a markedly prescriptive approach. However, the emphasis on professions and female work change, in part, the representations on women, providing new values for the construction of female identity. These values, in their turn, are related to life projects aiming at consumption |
