dc.description.abstractThe present work intends to present a possible interpretation of Gorgias' thought, based on the translation of his texts, and what implications his conception of reality, knowledge and discourse could have, more specifically, to investigate the consequences of his opposition to the immediate identification between reality, truth, thought and speech. Secondarily, we also intend to signal that Plato's characterization of the sophist does not exactly match what we can extract from Gorgias' texts. Mainly with regard to the famous thesis – supposedly sophistical – that it is not possible for there to be falsehood.pt_BR

Secundariamente, também pretendemos sinalizar que a caracterização de sofista feita por Platão não condiz exatamente com o que conseguimos extrair dos textos de Górgias.
