Caroca: pela única certeza que temos na vida

Abstract

This work consists of developing the script for an illustrated short film, transforming it into an artistic piece that expands the technical and poetic narrative of Caroca, a 60-year-old man with a sober and mournful appearance who lived in Vazantes, Ceará. At the moment of death, he was the one who placed the candle in the hands of the convalescent in his final gesture. Similar to the boatman Charon of Greek mythology, Caroca crosses the waters of the reservoir with his lantern illuminating the darkness and the silvery light of the moon, guiding those who depart this world to where Death takes them. With a technical, but above all conceptual and artistic, approach, the story of this countryman will be immortalized in words and illustrations, contributing to the preservation of local memory. Just like the river that flows through Vazantes and flows to the sea, this narrative will follow its course, spreading and lingering in images, memories, and memories, towards the "third bank of the river."
