| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este artigo versa sobre as reais condições de produção científica em boa parte do período colonial brasileiro, de forma a colocar em pauta seus limites e consistências históricas. Utilizando-se do método materialista histórico-dialético, conclui que os fatos implicadores da ausência do fazer científico nesse período estão relacionados às limitações estruturais impostas pelas políticas oriundas do Pacto Colonial. Por se entender o conceito de “ciência” de forma mais complexa, é possível constatar a existência de atividade científica no referido período. |
| Abstract: | This work is about the real conditions of scientific production in a good part of the Brazilian colonial period, in order to put its historical limits and consistencies on the agenda. Using the dialectical historical materialist method, it was concluded that the facts implying the absence of scientific practice in this period are related to the whole of the structural limitations imposed by the policies arising from the Colonial Pact. Furthermore, understanding the concept of “science” in a more complex way, it is possible to verify the existence of scientific activity in the respective period. |
