| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Apresenta-se um modelo de rede neural diluída e assimétrica, com sinapses aleatórias excitatórias e inibitórias. O estado de cada neurônio é regulado pelos estímulos recebidos dos outros neurônios e por um limiar de ativação que, no presente modelo, pode mudar com o tempo. Variando um parâmetro de controle no limiar, a atividade da rede pode ser de vários tipos: Constante, periódica, intermitente ou caótica. O regime intermitente é caracterizado por um espectro de potência do tipo 1/f. Este regime e o regime caótico são examinados detalhadamente. Algumas comparações são feitas com resultados de fluxos intermitentes e de mapas de baixa dimensionalidade. Conclui-se com observações sobre possíveis semelhanças entre os resultados do modelo e séries obtidas de eletroencefalogramas. |
| Abstract: | A model of neural network is presented. The network is diluted, asymmetric and has both excitatory and inhibitory synapses. The state of each neuron is determined by the input from other neurons and by a threshold function that can take different values in time. By varying a. control parameter in the threshold, the network activity can be of the following types: Constant, periodic, intermittent or chaotic. The intermitent regime is characterized by a power spectrum of the 1/f type. This regime is examined in detail. Some comparisons are made with experimental results from fluid flow and from low dimensional maps. Possible similitudes with real electroencephalograms are discussed. |
