Percepções e significados da festa de São Francisco de Assis na dinâmica educativa de Cascavel-Ce

Abstract

This research has as object of study the festival of Saint Francis of Assissi in the city of Cascavel - CE. Situated in a delimited symbolic time, the festivity contours and recreates different spaces, mobilizing sacro-profane aspects in each new edition. The objective of this research is to analyze possible educational activities during the symbolic time of the festival through the investigation of the interinstitutional relations between the school and the church during the realization of the festivities. To this end, we based ourselves in discussions mobilized in the field of Cultural Geography, as well as participant observations, and interviews with devotees and institutional representatives (a representative of the parish committee organizing the festival, and representatives of the schools EEEP Edson Queiroz e Centro Educacional Juvenal de Carvalho). While it was verified that there is no interinstitutional relation between the schools and the parish in the organization of the festival, there is evidence of a large presence of public from those schools taking part in the festivities. Such public actively transit, incorporate, and influence the dynamic of the festivities, demonstrating the relevance of investigating the possibilities of educational activities in the event, such relevance being strengthened when one recognizes the festival of Saint Francis of Assissi as a cultural and intangible heritage of the city, and the possible actions focused on heritage education that could be fomented by the symbolic time of the festivity
