| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | O objetivo deste texto é apresentar uma breve reflexão da conjuntura brasileira nas duas últimas décadas do século XX, centrando o foco da análise no período em que o Presidente Fernando Henrique Cardoso governou o país (1995-2002). Esta reflexão é indispensável para se entender como se consolidou, nos anos 1990 a adesão dos governos brasileiros às políticas de ajuste de orientação neoliberal propugnadas pelo Fundo Monetário Internacional - FMI e pelo Banco Mundial - BM. |
| Abstract: | The objective of this paper is to present a brief reflection of the situation in Brazil in the last two decades of the twentieth century, centering the focus of analysis in the period when President Fernando Henrique Cardoso ruled the country (1995-2002). This reflection is essential to understanding how consolidated in the 1990 Brazilian governments' adherence to the policies of neoliberal adjustment advocated by the World Bank - WB and the IMF. |
