| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este trabalho reporta novos achados de Xenarthra em um depósito de tanque do Pleistoceno do estado da Paraíba, Nordeste do Brasil. É registrada pela primeira vez a espécie Glyptotherium cf. cylindricum, além de novos achados de Panochthus sp. e Eremotheríum laurillardi. Esses registros ampliam a distribuição de algumas espécies de Xenarthra para a Região Intertropical Brasileira e, a presença de Glyptotherium cf. cylindricum, sugerem importantes relações biogeográficas entre as faunas de mamíferos do norte da América do Sul, da América Central e do sul da América do Norte durante o Pleistoceno final. |
| Abstract: | This paper reports news findings of Xenarthra in a Pleistocene tank deposit from the State of Paraiba, Northeastern Brazil. It’s first recorded the specie Glyptotherium cf. cylindricum in addition to new findings of Panochthus sp. and Eremotheríum laurillardi. These records extends the distribution of some species of Xenarthra to the Brazilian Intertropical Region and the presence of Glyptotherium cf. cylindricum, suggests important biogeographical relationships between faunas of northern mammals in South America, Central America and Southern North America during the late Pleistocene. |
