| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este artigo analisa as reflexões de Hegel e Vico sobre o sentido da história enquanto processo compreendido filosoficamente pelo movimento em que o universal está expresso no particular e o devir histórico desvela uma unidade inerente ao estabelecimento do homem enquanto sujeito histórico no mundo. Em Vico a história é um processo gradual de humanização do homem, onde através de elementos como a filologia, podemos compreender o sentido dessa humanização. Em Hegel devemos compreender o sentido da história pelo movimento dialético onde as contradições se evidenciam e a Razão é desvelada garantindo um desdobramento progressivo da liberdade. |
| Abstract: | This article compares the accounts of the historical process proposed by Vico and Hegel. They both share the vision that human beings are subjects of history and that there is a unity in the unfolding of history. It will be claimed, nonetheless, that whereas Vico thinks history as a process of progressive humanization that can be understood with the help of philology, Hegel believes it to be the place where the contradiction of the dialectical process progressively manifests reason and asserts freedom. |
