| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | O artigo analisa a trajetória histórica dos megaeventos esportivos no Brasil. Como metodologia foi realizada pesquisa bibliográfica, que se fundamentou em autores que discutem o processo de mercantilização das cidades, as estratégias de city marketing, os megaeventos esportivos e como estes se constituem em catalisadores de transformações nas cidades. Deciframos a complexidade dos megaeventos com suas lógicas de limpeza social, de remoção, de especulação imobiliária e de segregação territorial e social. Por fim, problematizamos a resistência dos diferentes movimentos sociais, em especial daqueles que historicamente lutaram pela reforma urbana e pelo direito à cidade. |
| Abstract: | The article analyze the historical trajectory of mega sporting events in Brazil. As methodology was conducted a bibliographical research, which was based in authors who discuss the process of commodification of cities, city marketing strategies, the mega sporting events and how they are catalysts of changes in cities. Preliminarily we deciphered the complexity of mega-events, with their logic of social cleansing, removals, speculation and spatial and social segregation. Finally, we question the strength of different social movements, especially those who historically fought for urban reform and the right to the city. Keywords: Capitalism. City. |
