| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Por que certas questões são retomadas ainda hoje quando o assunto é Linguística Aplicada? Qual a lógica e a política que guiam esses debates? A Linguística Aplicada é uma disciplina, uma área de concentração ou uma ciência? Qual a relação da Linguística Aplicada com a Linguística Teórica? E por fim, por que ainda é importante retomar essas questões? Com base em alguns linguistas aplicados (Moita Lopes, 1998, 2006; Rajagopalan, 2006; Cavalcanti, 2004; dentre outros), nossa intenção neste trabalho foi tentar responder a essas questões e levantar outras sobre o estatuto da LA. O resultado destas reflexões pode evidenciar que as discussões sobre o estatuto da Linguística Aplicada não se pautam apenas em questões teóricas e/ou ideológicas. |
| Abstract: | Why certain issues still are taken today when the subject is Applied Linguistics? What is the logic and politics that guide these discussions? The Applied Linguistics is a discipline, a concentration area or a science? What is the relationship of Applied Linguistics with Theoretical Linguistics? And finally, why it is still important to take these issues? Based on some applied linguists (Moita Lopes, 1998, 2006; Rajagopalan, 2006; Cavalcanti, 2004; among others) our intention in this paper was to try to answer these questions and bring other about the status of Applied Linguistics. The result of these reflections can reveal that discussions about the status of Applied Linguistics are based not only on theoretical aspects and / or ideological beliefs. |
