| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | O filósofo e sociólogo Pierre Bourdieu desenvolveu a ideia de campo científico, a partir do antagonismo existente entre as interpretações das produções com pretensões científicas, para explicar as relações de poder existentes em qualquer área de estudo. Nesse contexto, o presente artigo posiciona o engenheiro como agente social no campo, discutindo este conceito conjuntamente com os conceitos de capital puro e capital institucional e espaço social, além de estabelecer a ideia do ‘ser engenheiro’. Para tal, utilizamos o livro Os usos sociais da ciência: por uma sociologia clínica do campo científico como fonte primária principal. |
| Abstract: | The sociologist Pierre Bourdieu developed the idea of scientific field from the antagonism existent between the interpretations of the productions with scientific pretensions, to explain the power relations existing in any area of study. In this context, this article situates the engineer as a social agent in the field, discussing this concept together with the concepts of pure capital and institutional capital and social space; in addition, it establishes the idea of ‘being an engineer.’ For that reason, we have used the book The social uses of science: for a clinical sociology of the scientific field as the main primary source. |
