Abstract: This research investigates the challenges and conflicts concerning the claim of public recognition of the practice of evangelical rituals by the secular state, in order to record the paths to the formation of an evangelical intangible heritage in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza from the soundscape produced by this religious movement. The scientific analysis is done through a cultural approach, where the interest is to analyze the Brazilian evangelical religious culture, considering it as an important conceptual analysis field, relevant and theoretically grounded. To be able to use this approach it was necessary to resort some authors, such as Augustin Berque (2004), Cosgrove (2004), Jean-Marc Besse (2006), Anne Cauquelin (2007), among others. These scholars have a strong influence in the Brazilian geographical thinking and became a reference in the perspective of humanistic thinking by emphasizing, in many of their texts, dimensions and values of human culture in inter-subjective understanding of the geographical landscape. The use of the term "soundscape" results from the concept of translation systematized by the canadian musician Murray Schafer (2001): "soundscape" that in this study-reworks the condition of reference concept. The author indicates three main elements in the soundscape and they became the pillars of this research: the fundamental sounds, signals and sound marks. This form of analysis contributes to the understanding of this study, due to the soundscape that forms in Fortaleza metropolitan region beyond the limits of propagation of sound and into social ties, institutional and emotional assets or liabilities subject of the process. Being this landscape analyzed beyond the physical structure, in its social mobility capabilities for the design of a patrimony. To better understand the dimensions involving patrimonialization and make critical analyzes of elitism heritage, this research uses Oliveira (2013). The paths and methodological tools used in the research process are guided by the appreciation of the intentions and actions of the individuals involved subjectively and objectively with our object of study, to do that this research followed qualitative parameters, anchoring in an intersubjective construction of subject researcher and religious subject. Data were collected from methodological practices consistent with each step of the research process or constituted by the result of the interactions of the participants comments. The collected information was covered by an interpretation depending on the relevance of the ideas and not the measurements. Finally, relevant and auspicious final remarks reflect on the elitist political character that limits and paralyzes the cultural practices of the subjects within pre-formatted templates to control social groups and try to restrict human creativity on behalf of a notorious urban and social planning, a poor public budget and conservation that narrowly meets the collective and individual interests of contemporary society.
