| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este artigo procura analisar as transformações na estrutura de sentimentos relativa às relações entre a cidade de fortaleza e a população de retirantes que periodicamente pressiona os equipamentos urbanos, entre os anos de 1877 e 1915. Através das ações de um novo sujeito político - a multidão -, os retirantes alteram os usos e os sentidos da cidade, exigindo de autoridades uma nova postura de ação, gerando um amplo sistema de socorros baseado no trabalho, e, da população urbana, uma nova atitude, em que a caridade e a solidariedade cristã são colocadas em xeque. A pesquisa utiliza evidências de natureza variada (correspondência oficial, jornais, romances, listas e relatórios), procurando apreender a dimensão do conflito e as novas relações de força que se constituem na cidade. |
| Abstract: | This article aims to analise how changes in the feeling structure are related with the relationship between Fortaleza inhabitants and the refugees who time to time pressure the urban equipaments, between 1877 and 1915. A new political agent - the crowd - was then built by those refugees, changing the uses and the meanings of the city, urging the authorities to a new kind of action, creating a huge relief system based on work camps. Charity and christian solidarity were not sufficient to protect the poor. A large number of evidences (corresponding papers, newspapers, books, reports) are used to understand the conflict meanings and the new power forces in the city. |
