Problemas da literatura infantil em duas narrativas infanto-juvenis contemporâneas: onde estão os heróis?

Abstract

Basedon the reflections on children's literature held by Cecília Meireles in his book Problemas da Literatura Infantil(1979), we propose in this paper to observe similarities and contrasts in relation to the author's notes and the reality of reading childish and works for children and young contemporary. We leave the discussion interesting that the writer performs on childhood, the bonds between "Traditional Literature" (oral writing what became the collection of folktales) and Children's Literature, as well as their weights on the characteristics of the latter. Cecília also points to the figuration of the heroes in children's books and one question about the courses they take (and take) in the works at the time. Here we ask: how heroes appearing in children's literature (and juvenile) contemporary? In order to look more closely at this brief issue selected for this comparative study, the books Coraline(2002, released in Brazil in 2003, adapted for film in 2009), the English Neil Gaiman, and Artemis Fowl(2001), the Irish writer Eoin Colfer. We will study the characters of the two narratives: the eponymous heroine Coraline, who faces gun courage and the duplicate of his parentsto save the true, and the antihero Artemis, from a family famous in the art of deception and seeking to recover family fortune to get hold of a treasure tale. We realized that the trajectories of the characters seem to follow the "hero's journey" (Campbell, 2007) and reinvent characteristics of fairy tales; contact, fighting and even alliance with magical beings appears to be one of the facets of this appropriation.
