Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases characterized by persistent hyperglycemia, which culminates in various pathological changes, including neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy, cardiovascular diseases and impaired wound healing. There is a lack of resolution of the healing phases (inflammatory, proliferative and remodeling) resulting in delayed healing or in a chronic wound. [1] and [2].
