A juventude em tempos acelerados: reflexões sobre consumo, indústria cultural e tecnologias informacionais

Abstract

In the current context of the consumption culture and based on the School of Frankfurt’s theoreticians, this article proposes a critical reflection about the experience of the acceleration of time in the pace of life, especially among youngsters, endorsed by three means: the new media and information technologies, the fetishistic consumption and the cultural industry. The concern is with the prominence of the so-called free time and its possible integration through the productivity logic of the labor time as a form of social control presenting its main strategies of invasion and possible implications in the subtle domination process of the contemporaneous individual.
