| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Este trabalho assegura que existe uma língua informal em oposição a uma língua oficial, a língua do establishment, a língua dos gramáticos, e que esta língua informal é claramente discriminada pelas elites. Ele propõe, portanto, que este preconceito poderia muito bem ser vencido no interesse não apenas em se equipar o professor com uma valiosíssima ferramenta, mas também no interesse de promover uma melhor relação entre as pessoas. Uma breve pesquisa de autores como Labov, Chomsky, Whorf e Marx é realizada a fim de se estabelecer a base para a proposta de que a língua informal não é meramente uma forma degenerada, mas um meio altamente complexo de expressão popular. O trabalho analisa, então, aspectos sociais no Nordeste do Brasil como fatores determinantes da existência de um forte e atrativo vernáculo. |
| Abstract: | This paper asserts that there is an informal language as opposed to the official language of the establishment and grammarians, and that this informal language is clearly discriminated by the elite. It propounds then that this bias could well be overcome in the interest not only of equipping the teacher with an invaluable tool but also in the interest of improving relations between persons. A brief survey of authors such as Labo Chomsky Whorf and Marx is carried out in order to establisb the basis for the proposition that the informal language is not merely a degenerated form but a highly complex medium of popular expression. The paper analyses then social aspects in the Northeast of Brazil as shaping agents of a very strong and attractive vernacular. |
