| Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese: | Os primeiros passos do desenvolvimento social comunicativo e linguístico na primeira infância são descritos. A seguir, são examinadas as interferências que a carência de visão pode ter nestes processos, assim como os aspectos idiossincráticos que introduzem no comportamento infantil. Por fim, ressaltem-se as possibilidades de compensações e caminhos alternativos que as crianças cegas e seus pais podem trilhar na superação destas dificuldades. |
| Abstract: | The first steps of social development, communication and language at the first childhood are described. The interferences that the vision lack can have on these developmental processes are examined, as well as the idiosyncretic aspects that it introduce in the infantile behavior. Finaly, the possibilities of compensations and alternative developmental pathways that the blind children and their parents may track to cope with these difficulties are discussed. |
