Intervenção frente a problemas decorrentes da violência contra a criança no contexto familiar

Abstract

This article presents a review of the literature on child physical abuse, focusing points related to its definition, determination and prevalence. A more comprehensive approach of this problem is suggested, and the autor proposes to consider child abuse as an aspect of the problem of family violence, wich is conceptualized as a particular expression of violence inherent to the model of current structure and organization of society. Some aspects related to rehabilitation procedures, in severel levels (the individual, the family, the school, the community), with families who are victims of violence are finaly emphasized. The role of the psychologist as a practitioner and as a citizen, is specialy considered.
