Análise do impacto do índice tecnológico na receita de apicultores do Ceará: uma abordagem de regressão quantílica

Abstract

This study measured the impact of technological indices on the income of beekeepers in Ceará, using quantile regression methodology. Technological levels were evaluated in four categories: equipment, management, harvesting, and post-harvesting, generating an overall index. The research, conducted in 2021 with 125 beekeepers from the Jaguaribe, Sertões Cearenses, and Northwest Ceará mesoregions, revealed that equipment and post-harvest technologies showed the highest indices, while management and harvesting were classified as medium level. The quantile regression highlighted the relevance of the technological index in explaining variations in income per hive, also emphasizing the importance of technical assistance at the lower percentiles, underscoring the need for support for less qualified beekeepers. Additionally, the analysis indicated that distance from consumer centers negatively impacts income, while efficient time management positively influences earnings. On the other hand, participation in associative activities did not show statistical significance, suggesting the need for further investigation. The study also reinforces the importance of planning and technical support to optimize productivity and increase beekeepers' income, promoting the economic development of the sector.
