Intensidade de participação e eficiência técnica dos estabelecimentos de agricultura familiar no Brasil

Abstract

The National Program for Strengthening Family Farming is a public policy of great importance to the sector, offering rural credit, technical assistance, agricultural insurance, and incentives for agroindustrialization and marketing of family farming products. However, there are still doubts about the impact of Pronaf on the technical efficiency of family farming establishments. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the intensity with which the participation of family farming establishments in the Pronaf B and Pronaf V credit lines impacts their technical efficiency. The analysis was performed using a stochastic frontier and dose-response model. The technical efficiency characteristics of non-PRONAF members, those benefiting from Pronaf B and Pronaf V were compared. The results of the study show that an increase in participation in Pronaf B reduces the technical efficiency of establishments when the ratio exceeds 0.2, a behavior opposite to that occurring with line V of the program, which at a level of 80% participation leads establishments to reach 92% technical efficiency.
