Religiosidades de um grupo familiar de Cedro - CE

Abstract

The present work, entitled Religiosities of a family group in Cedro - CE, enrolled in the Narratives, Symbolisms and Emotions Research Line, of the Postgraduate Program in Anthropology of the Department of Social Sciences of the Federal University of Ceará, aims to ethnograph, beginning from the investigation and analysis of the influence of religions of indigenous/African/European/Islamic origins in the religiosities of the author and his maternal family group and prayers from that city. The fieldwork was carried out in two moments: the first, between the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021; and the second in July 2024. To address the object of study, we opted for a ethnographic research, proposed by Geertz (2008) and Peirano (1995), and an autoethnography, referenced in Ellis, Adams and Bochner (2011). This allowed the researcher, during field research, greater immersion, observation and description of the symbols and meanings attributed to the observed religiosities and the daily life and way of life of the studied group. Based on the orality of the research subjects, the similarities and differences regarding religious practices and beliefs, it was possible to point how these influences construct the studied religiosities; note the peculiarities of the setup of these different influences on the subjects’ beliefs and practices; understand to which extent the ethnographic religiosities are universal - as they present elements already pointed out by other anthropologists in the study of religiosities - and to what extent they are original; register the importance of the teachings that support the ancestry of a family group. Finally, this research brings a dialogue between the specific - the religiosity of a family - and the general - northeastern religiosities.
