Espaços urbanos e o pertencimento juvenil: uma leitura sociológica sobre o identitário com o bairro

Abstract

This paper presents a teaching sequence carried out during the Professional Master's Degree in Sociology Teaching, in the research area of Youth and Contemporary Issues. The aim was to research the identity relationships of high school students with the neighborhood in which they live, based on reflections on Urban Sociology, Youth, and Belonging. Urban space is the subject of studies in different areas of knowledge. For the social sciences, it is essential to understand the city from the context of its history, its collective relationships, and its connections with processes of social expression, such as the analysis of the city as a product of the reproduction of everyday life. As a school subject, sociology has much to contribute to the development of critical thinking about urban space, as it promotes students' contact with their reality, confronting them with local realities and more distant spatialities. As methodologies for the study of the city, actions were developed using audiovisual material, music, field classes, and a social cartography workshop. This paper lists methodologies that can contribute to teaching practice in the study of the city, enhancing students' understanding of sociological concepts and their sense of belonging to the city and neighborhood in which they live.
