Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges that black, brazilian and foreign women face to work in the labor market. Through a qualitative research approach, 10 foreign and Brazilian black women currently in the Brazilian labor market were interviewed. The findings demonstrate that black women still face racism, racial inequality, and harassment, despite an increase in research on black women in the labor market. It is evident that black women are underrepresented in the labor market, with a hierarchical pyramid structure where they are more present at the base. The interviews also reveal the challenges faced by these women in terms of career advancement and projection, highlighting that black women have greater difficulty in initiating their professional journey. This work contributes by exposing the barriers encountered and proposing actions that can be implemented to reduce gender and racial disparities.
