| dc.description.abstract | Food and nutrition security (FNS) is an essential and multidimensional issue that directly impacts the quality of life of rural populations. Its analysis involves factors such as availability and access to food. In Brazil, family farming plays a central role in promoting FNS, being responsible for food diversification and conservation of agrobiodiversity. The objective of this study was to analyze the contribution of the Mulungu Creole Seed House to the availability and accessibility aspects of food security for settled families. To this end, the research was structured in different methodological stages. First, a bibliographic review and documentary analysis on food security, native seeds, agrobiodiversity, among others, were carried out. Then, semi-structured questionnaires were applied to the women participating in the initiative, since they play a central role in seed conservation and family nutrition. Subsequently, the data were organized and analyzed. The main results indicate that the Mulungu Creole Seed Bank contributes in part to local food security. Improvements were observed in food diversity, regularity of production and access to quality seeds, reducing dependence on commercial inputs. In addition, the initiative strengthened farmers' autonomy, promoting greater socioeconomic resilience. Challenges include the need for community engagement, especially among young people, dependence on external markets and the lack of strategies for commercializing production. It is concluded that Seed Houses play a strategic role in promoting FNS and building fairer and more sustainable food systems, being essential for maintaining food sovereignty and security in rural communities. | pt_BR |
