Do canto das nambus ao barulho do trem : transformações no modo de vida e na saúde na comunidade de bolso complexo industrial e portuário do Pecém-CE

Abstract

This study is included in the subject field of economic development and its relationship with the environment, work and health. The intention is to investigate under the perspective of the Bolso community in the harbour and industrial composite of Pecem – CIPP in Ceará, the changes in territory and the implications on the way of life and health of the local people under the context of Federal Growth Plan – PAC. To understand the development logic that is preponderant in governmental plans and the locational criteria for the deployment of these ventures, as though the consequences over health caused by the adopted development model, it was used the theoretical framework of authors that research productive restructuring, the interface between worker health and environment health, the environment justice and the promotion of health. It was adopted as methodological strategy the qualitative research, performing a research, with documental analisis, reunions and focal groups. The speech of people involved in fieldwork was used as a representation of their perceptions on the changes that occured in the territory and the consequences over health, from the use of photos produced by a research group composed by the researched elements. It was observed in the results that the use and appropriation of the territory by the enterpreneurs are based in the belief in progress and development, conflicting with the way of life, product and interact with nature shown by the community of Bolso, that tries to resist to this iintervention supported by religious and social movements. In spite of the changes brought with the economical model cause deep changes in the way of living of community, especially of workers, there is a mismatch with the development of other public policies directed to mitigate this process, as though as environment protection and health promotion of population are concerned.
