dc.description.abstract-ptbrThe separation of CO2 from CO2-CH4 mixtures is an important issue in natural gas and biogas purification/upgrading for energy generation applications. The presence of CO2 in raw natural gas streams considerably decreases the energy content of natural gas and also contributes to the pipeline and equipment corrosion due to the corrosive properties of carbon dioxide in presence of water. Presently, several research projects focus on obtaining binary adsorption equilibrium data of carbon dioxide and methane. Furthermore, a variety of microporous materials have been screened, examined and developed for physical adsorption applied in separation purposes of gas mixtures containing CO2 and CH4. In this work, we present a comparison between experimental selectivity data for CO2-CH4 mixtures on an activated carbon at temperature 293 K for different bulk gas phases. In all cases, carbon dioxide was preferably adsorbed than methane. It was observed a maximum selectivity of 7.5 for equimolar mixture at 0.1 MPa.pt_BR
