dc.description.abstractQuicklime dissolution represents one of the most important steps in Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) process. In the present work, the kinetic dissolution of quicklime has been studied in a pH-Stat apparatus. Stirring presented no effect above 1320 rpm, indicating a possible mas transfer limitation under this value. Even though, as temperature increases, the dissolution reaction rate increased (675 %), and the activation energy was 25.52 kJ.mol-1. Kinetic analysis of the results indicates that the quicklime dissolution follows the shrinking core model and it is controlled by both mass transfer (under 1320 rpm) and reaction on surface steps.pt_BR
