dc.description.abstract	In the practice of their profession, many translators and interpreters can make mistakes which according to their degree of significance can lead to some kind of punishment. Generally, many professionals of these two fields of activity have no basic knowledge of translatory ethics and responsibility so that they can be confronted with serious administrative or legal problems. This paper analyses this subject based especially on concrete information acquired through empirical surveys that were carried on in Austria between 1999 and 2001.	pt_BR
