Evolução biológica e internet: como favorecer uma correta aquisição de conceitos através de vídeo aulas

Abstract

The Theory of Biological Evolution of species is one of the scientific ideas of greater prominence and of greater relevance for the understanding of life as a phenomenon of nature. Such a theory has caused great discussions not only in the academic environment, but also in several layers of civil society, as it explains the mechanisms by which species arise and diversify. However, even with the accumulated scientific advances and the free access to information that we have today, the Theory of Evolution still finds barriers to its dissemination and acceptance by the more lay public. Even though it is included in the national curriculum as one of the points to be dealt with in the classroom, many students still have misconceptions about several basic points for understanding the theory. Generally, preconceived ideas and cultural issues end up hindering the process of disseminating, developing and acquiring concepts satisfactorily. From this, it is noted the importance of investigating the previous concepts that the population presents about specific points of evolutionary theory and how mass dissemination tools such as the internet can assist in the process of disseminating knowledge. This work sought to collect information, through an online questionnaire, in order to understand the level of understanding that people have about three basic points of the Theory of Biological Evolution, their interest in knowing it and how they see the impact of the internet about their learning process. It was found that a portion of the investigated public has deficiencies in the structuring of concepts related to the analyzed Theory of Evolution points and in the application of such concepts in simulated situations. It was also verified that a large part of the public (mainly the younger ones) uses the internet as a source of information and updates, consuming content in the form of video lessons. Therefore, the internet, through audio visual platforms, stands out as an effective means for the creation and dissemination of scientific material. At the end of the project, as an educational product, a collection of videos was produced to be made available for free on the YouTube platform, in order to favor the dissemination of evolutionary theory and thus counter myths and prejudices on the subject.
