dc.description.abstract-ptbrHabermas considera que a decomposição do ethos tradicional no domínio dos valores e das normas, promovida pela filosofia do sujeito, originou duas alternativas enfrentadas no direito, uma privilegiou a integridade dos indivíduos mediante a proteção dos direitos humanos, enquanto a outra favoreceu a autorrealização da comunidade, através da soberania popular, resultando na oposição entre liberalismo, que promoveu a figura do sujeito em pequena escala, o indivíduo, e o republicanismo, que pressupôs a figura do sujeito em grande escala, o povo, resultando em uma competição entre direitos humanos e soberania popular, a qual Habermas pretende reconciliar com a democracia deliberativa.pt_BR
