Quem tem medo da media?

Abstract

This paper outlines an analysis about the media, its influence and production of evil effects on the daily life of people. It aims, therefore, at understanding, although in a brief way, the several variants of the sociological thinking in the West, its fluctuations, fears and critical evaluations in relation to the media including its social actors. The showing of sordidness and the sacralization of violence, unique features of Brazilian TV, while challenging the educator, the intellectual and the politician, should also arise in them an analytical posture linked to subjectivity and critical reason.
