Abstract: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a clinically heterogeneous disorder characterized by mild to severe
thickening of left ventricular chamber associated with diastolic dysfunction. The main clinical signs are typically respiratory abnormalitiess econdary to pulmonary edema and /or pleural effusion; mild to severe acute heart failure; and paraparesis/paraplegia caused by arterial thromboembolism. The diagnosis should be based on a positive family history and the causes that cause secondary hypertrophy should be discarded. Echocardiography is currently the gold standard for the diagnosis of this pathology.
It is the most common heart disease in adult cats; therefore, it is necessary knowledge of the condition in order to perform an effective clinical management, improving prognosis and quality of life of the animal.

Abstract: The research investigated the nutrient composition of the Nilo tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus), acidic silage aiming at its utilization in substitution to fish flaour for animal nutrition. It was produced from “Nilo tilapia” autolysis in 3 % (w/w) formic acid by staring the minced fish in polyetilene container with a whole on the top to hit scape of gases, at 22 – 25oC for 90 days. Determination of humidity, protein, lipids, ask and specific minerals were performed following a complete randomized procedure. Varance Analysis did not show statistical diferences (p>0,05) among samples for centesimal composition and minerals. A higher magnitude of amino acids de composition was fecund in the silages stored for 90 days. Ninety eight percent (98 %) of the 22 fatty scids determined contained 10 to 22 carbon atoms, and 22 of them acounted for less then 1 % concentration in the silages.

Abstract: Sixty seven male and intact dogs were grouped according to the age in three groups: 1 - 3 years (group), 4
- 6 years (group B) and above of seven years (group C). Ten animals with alterations in parenchyma prostate evaluated by ultrasonography had been grouped separately (group D) independently of the age. Part of the animals was submitted to the transabdominal ultrasonography and biopsy (25 animals) and another part to transrectal ultrasonography and extirpation of the gland after necropsy (42 an imals). The ultrasonographic exam was easy execution, as well as the biopsy. The alterations in the size and arenchyma prostate seen by sonograms had been confirmed in the hystopathological examination. The hystopathologic exam showed that all the dogs from 4 years present alteration of the prostate, most frequently the prostate hyperplasia. The majority of the animals presented more than one form of disease
simultaneously. Abacterial prostatitis is frequent in adult dogs.

Abstract: Sertolioma is a common type of primary unilateral or bilateral testicular cancer, generally without signs that indicate the possibility of metastasis. This paper describes the clinical and laboratory diagnostic approach of a cryptorchid dog with sertolioma. The object of study was a male Pinscher dog, which reported the presence of a nodule in the inguinal region by its owner. Upon the nodule palpation during the physical examination, it was found the presence of edema and increased volume with firm consistency, but without
fibrous features. Complete blood count, serum biochemical tests, ECG and echocardiogram, and fine - needle aspiration cytology were requested. Among other findings, cytology showed changes suggesting sertolioma: Numerous round and polygonal cells of large cytoplasm, displaying small vacuoles with reticular
chromatin nucleiand evident nucleoli; fine bundles of fibrous tissue; and lymphocytes and neutrophils in hemorrhagic background rich in cell debris. The definitive diagnosis was made after orchiectomy through
biopsy of the right testicular tumor, which showed neoplasia in malignant Sertoli cells, arranged in solid blocks fully occupying seminiferous tubules; necrotic foci; and bleeding, arousing intense subacute nflammatory process.
