Título: Utilização de enxerto livre subepitelial para correção de recessão gengival pós-tratamento ortodôntico: um relato de caso clínico

Abstract: Gingival recession (GR) is the apical displacement of the gingival margin, resulting from different etiologies, including orthodontic treatment, especially in proclination movements in thin periodontium. A possible treatment for this condition is the root coverage approach with gingival grafts. The objective was to report a case of root coverage after orthodontic treatment using free subepithelial graft. A 23-year-old normossystemic patient, who underwent 9 years of orthodontic treatment, presented with a gingival recession classified as RT1 A-, 4 mm in apical-coronal extension and 3 mm in width, on tooth 31. With the aid of Cone Beam Computed Tomography, a total absence of buccal bone plate was noted. The GR correction technique chosen was the free subepithelial graft. After basic periodontal treatment, microblades were used for intrasucular incision around tooth 31 and, with the aid of tunnelers, a receptor bed of approximately 6 mm in length proximal to the GR was created. Using the Harris technique, the free subepithelial graft from the palate region, 11 mm long and 2 mm thick, was removed. The graft was then positioned in the recipient site and sutured with 6-0 resorbable suture thread, as well as suturing in the donor region. The follow-up of the case was carried out in the period of 7, 14 days, 1 month and 3 months after the surgery, being observed, at the end, 3 mm of coverage. Thus, we can conclude that the subepithelial free graft approach proved to be satisfactory for correcting the gingival recession of the tooth in question.

Abstract: The objective of this work is to report, in a detailed and science-based way, a clinical case in which Ozone Therapy was used to control pain in a patient diagnosed with TMD. This is an exploratory descriptive clinical case report. Through the application of a validated questionnaire, the patient was diagnosed with myalgia with disc displacement without reduction with opening limitation on both sides. The therapy used was the local infiltrative application of intramuscular medicinal ozone in the masseter and in the region of the temporomandibular joint on both sides, associated with the injection of ozonized gas through the auricular route. For pain monitoring, the EVA
method (Visual Analogue Scale) was used, for the evaluation of inflammation, the thermography exam was used before and after the application of ozone. Finally, the assessment of oral limitation was performed using a caliper. 2 weekly applications were performed for 3 weeks. There was a significant reduction in pain reported by the patient, as well as an increase in mouth opening amplitude throughout the sessions. The application of Ozone Therapy in this patient proved to be an effective therapy. However, further studies are needed, with a longer follow-up time and more patients treated.

Lactobacillus reuteri como adjuvante no tratamento periodontal não cirúrgico

Título: Lactobacillus reuteri como adjuvante no tratamento periodontal não cirúrgico

Abstract: Introduction: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the destruction of tissues such as periodontal ligament and bone, whose gold standard treatment is non-surgical periodontal therapy. Lactobacillus reuteri is a probiotic that produces antimicrobial substances such as reuterin, which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The influence of L. reuteri on periodontal disease has been a widely investigated issue, due to the biofilm's ability to modulate. Thus, the objective was to review the literature on the influence of its use as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal treatment.
Materials and Methods: A search was performed for articles published in the last 5 years, in Pubmed, Web of Science, Scielo and Virtual Health Library Regional Portal databases with the descriptors: “Probiotics” and “Periodontal Disease” or “Periodontitis”. The search resulted in 577 articles. Duplicate articles with different themes from the proposed ones were excluded;
literature reviews, dissertations, preclinical studies; studies that evaluated other types of probiotics and those without evaluation of cases of periodontitis, resulting in 13 selected articles.
Results: Twelve of the trials had improvements in at least one clinical parameter after the use of L. reuteri, when compared to the control groups. The microbiological impact was evaluated in 4 articles and in 3 of them there were statistically significant reductions of periodontopathogens. Biochemical parameters were evaluated in one of the trials, demonstrating a reduction of matrix metalloproteinase-8 and nitric oxide in the group that received probiotic.
Conclusion: Lactobacillus reuteri when used as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal treatment seems to promote an improvement in periodontal clinical, microbiological and biochemical parameters.

Abstract: The teeth loss affects not only the functional, aesthetic and phonetic scopes, but also the social area of the affected individual. Different forms of rehabilitation have been elaborated and developed throughout history until the current scenario of implantology development. The objective of this study is to show the feasibility of oral rehabilitation with implants with immediate loading or with early loading, describing the clinical stages of their placement until
the definitive rehabilitation of three patients. The first patient, male, with controlled hypertension, 55 years old, with absence in the upper and lower arches, sought care with functional and aesthetic complaints. Rehabilitation with implants and single fixed crowns was suggested for edentulous spaces of the upper right first molar and lower left second premolar. A 30-year-old, normossystemic, female patient sought rehabilitation for the lower left first
molar lost after endodontic failure, presenting the posterior tooth mesialized towards the space, but with maintenance of 10 mm of interdental space. Implant placement surgery and rehabilitation with a fixed crown with early loading were performed. The third patient, male, 26 years old, normossystemic, in the final stage of orthodontic treatment, complaining of congenital absence of right and left maxillary lateral incisors and referred for rehabilitation with
osseointegrated implants. The placement of the implants took place in the same surgical procedure, as well as the installation of temporary prostheses adapted from those used by the patient fixed to the orthodontic wire during his treatment.With the correct surgical and prosthetic planning, rehabilitations on implants can be obtained immediately or later (early or late) with high success rates.
