Abstract: With the implementation of the National System of Evaluation of&#xD;
Higher Education, approximately a decade ago, higher education&#xD;
institutions experienced a process of change that had repercussions&#xD;
on their organizational structure and on their design and model.&#xD;
Institutional evaluation becomes more and more important, especially&#xD;
with regard to the use of the results of the evaluation process as a&#xD;
subsidy for institutional improvement. Therefore, it is considered&#xD;
relevant and timely to conduct a study about the relationship between&#xD;
the results of the evaluations carried out and the management&#xD;
actions within the university. In this sense, the objective of this study&#xD;
is to analyze the repercussion of the results of the self assessment&#xD;
process carried out by the Self Evaluation Committee, within the&#xD;
scope of the management of a public institution, from the perspective&#xD;
of the management group. The study is characterized as an applied&#xD;
research, of a descriptive nature, with a quantitative and qualitative&#xD;
approach and a questionnaire composed of open and closed&#xD;
questions, applied to the managers, was used as instrument of data&#xD;
collection. The results show that although the managers conceive the&#xD;
data of the self-evaluation as an important management allowance,&#xD;
the use of this information is still punctual and does not constitute&#xD;
an institutionalized action in the university. The conclusions of the&#xD;
study present elements that can contribute to the formulation and&#xD;
improvement of the evaluation practice in the institution and to the&#xD;
advancement of the studies on the institutional evaluation in order to&#xD;
meet the objectives of National System of Evaluation.

Abstract: This research aimed at verifying the performance of college students&#xD;
following the establishment of these quotas in public federal&#xD;
universities. We focused on newcomer students (2014.1, 2014. 2&#xD;
and 2015.1) engaged in computer science studies from the Crateús,&#xD;
Quixadá and Russas campi, covering a total of ten undergraduate&#xD;
courses. We assessed the academic performance of individuals&#xD;
allocated into three major groups: students admitted through the&#xD;
quota program, students benefiting from federal assistance programs&#xD;
and non-quota students, i.e., admitted through general admission.&#xD;
Our theoretical framework was organized to explain the concept&#xD;
and establishment of affirmative actions in Brazil and worldwide&#xD;
and their convergence into the national undergraduate education&#xD;
scenario. The research, predominantly descriptive and documentary,&#xD;
conducted statistical analyses to compare the performance of the&#xD;
aforementioned groups. The results indicated that students accepted&#xD;
through general admission showed a higher average of academic&#xD;
performance index (índice de rendimento acadêmico, IRA) when&#xD;
compared to that from quota students, but this difference was not&#xD;
deemed significant. Concerning students benefiting from federal&#xD;
assistance programs, it was found that their averaged IRA was higher&#xD;
than the other groups, but again it was not statistically significant.&#xD;
Therefore, the performance of this group and the others is considered&#xD;
similar.
