Abstract: This research investigates the representation documentary of the field of economics, by analyzing the structures of representation in the Indexing Languages and specific documents of Economics, from the identification of the terms of Bulletins Economic Conjuncture of Brazil. Has like overall goal, to contribute to the development of the information of the field of Economics, by means of the analysis results how this information is represented in the Indexing Languages and, like specific objectives: to investigate the theoretical aspects of representation documentary of the field of economics; to identify and describe the information at the Bulletins Economic Conjuncture of Brazil; and, to analyze information in the field of Economics shown in Indexing Languages. In view of, therefore, the uniqueness and importance of information in the field of Economics, serves as support for the socioeconomic development of Brazil, inquire: As the information field of Economics is represented by Indexing Languages? The thesis of this research is that the improvement of the representation of information in the field of Economics depends on your definition of the concept and studies of Indexing Languages that represent. Performs a theoretical-methodological study of the Knowledge Representation and Indexing Languages, in the context of Information Science. Presents and describes three Indexing Languages that covering the field of economics: the Controlled Vocabulary of the USP; the Thesauri ISOC of Economy; and the translation of the Library of Congress Subject Headings used by Biblioteca Nacional. Conceptualizes the information of the field of Economics. Used as a methodology the “Modelo Metodológico Integrado para Construção de Tesauro” proposed by Cervantes (2009). The research concludes that this model is an instrument consolidated and feasible to build of Indexing Languages. Prepares a documentary structure of the field of Economics having as parameter of the Indexing Languages and the specific documents area. From the compilation of corpus economic terms of the bulletins and your comparison and verification in the languages surveyed, classifying for the, next, submit a proposal for categorization their in the subdomain “Economic Indicators”, entering in the Vocabulário da USP. Infers that, the term of the information of the field of Economics, even as the concept of Economic Indicators, consolidate as synonyms of information, because indicate a “sets with significant expertise” of the economic conjuncture. They represent therefore, productive aspects of the reality of the country, a state, a county, or even specific sectors, that can the use for the make decision and consequent investments in innovations that result in an improvement to society.

Abstract: Treat about how the phenomenon of social networking sites affects the contemporary informational scenario, transforming everyday practices and experiences of individuals with regard to the production, consumption and sharing of information in digital space. Problematizes how the expression society of information has been referenced to characterize a form of social organization based on the information technology paradigm. Then discusses the current structure of the media system, focusing since the formation of a mass society, to the ubiquity of digital information in urban areas, with the aim of demonstrating that socio-cultural scene is marked by an increasingly converging means, as well as languages. Accordingly, discusses the internet as a kind of media marked by computer-mediated communication, in which different forms of media are articulated, giving rise to system based on network interconnection. Through the notion of network underscores the fact that the social context of networking sites consists of complex associations between humans and technologies, aiming to empirical research attend more  to the hybrid nature of these relationships, and less for their infrastructural aspect. For empirical verification, purposes qualitative research, using ethnographic method, with the intention of supporting the argument that social media has the ability to affect the everyday experiences of individuals, changing informational scenario. As empirical field elects Facebook, choosing because it is characterized as the social network site most used in Brazil and in several other countries. Conducts interviews with twelve users of Facebook, still using the participant observation, examinee the interactions among netizens as well as the ways in which they relate to the information and the site through the available tools. Accordingly, concludes that each one of the informational practices observed point aspects of how information is and is at the same time, the actual constituent. The perception that users have of the real involves both physical dimensions, such as digital, implying direct consequences in the construction of their experiences. Through Facebook, individuals have the opportunity to define for themselves and for Other they perceive as information, wish  to have access, and especially what they think need to be highlighted or ignored in their daily experiences on the internet. Thus, it was possible to see the Internet not only as media technology, but mainly as an element of culture, where living online and offline complement. The user participates actively of informational process that develops in their wefts, using their tools to grasp senses and give meaning to information circulated on the site.

Abstract: The concepts of user studies, their discussion and dissemination through teaching  is the subject matter approached in this thesis to make clear how they are identified and analyzed by the professors who teach this discipline in Librarianship courses in Brazilian universities.  Through them, to know how they are being worked on in the classroom, their dialogues with other areas and with the theoreticians who permeate the scientific production in the context of librarianship teaching.  It aims to identify and analyze these concepts and how they are perceived, exposed, assimilated and reproduced in the teaching practice.  It shows a national panorama represented by those courses that participated in the survey with the intention of rethinking and examining how the issue has been developed within Information Science. Some researchers have strengthened underlying theoretical support of studies in the field of Information Science, the approaches described, preferably by Brenda Dervin, Ellis, Wilson, Khulthau, Choo, Araújo, Figueiredo and Ferreira; in the reading of book chapters , journal articles and dissertations as well as doctoral theses on the subject, which stood in the state of art in the object of study . We define as a methodological approach the content analysis according to Bardin, conducting a qualitative descriptive research. It was required to the teachers in question, initially, plans to teach the subject with its various components and secondly, the questionnaire. The latter was divided into two parts, being one of them with the characterization of the teacher and the other one with nine open questions on teaching issues. It was assigned a pretest of the questionnaire when it was found to be necessary to modify some questions, immediately redone. The lesson plans were examined, together with the responses of the questionnaires and from the concepts expressed by the professors, as the constituent items of the instruments. The sample consisted of the 14 (fourteen) faculty members of Librarianship courses, who returned completed questionnaires, being aware of the teaching plans on the subject. We emphasize the                  understanding of professors on user's studies and how such studies have been seen and treated in the teaching practice, as a significant point of research. The professors dominate the history of user's studies and were greatly influenced by Figueiredo, Dervin and Choo; nevertheless, they usually follow the traditional approach, with procedures that focus on the system, as information seeking, without emphasizing the significance of the information in the user's life. Given this finding, we conclude that the hypothesis hereby formulated was sufficiently proven, once the continuing education emphasizing more on the search process than on the use of information in the user's life.  Thus, the teaching practice focuses more on traditional approaches and less in the contemporary ones in which the meaning of information should be emphasized in teaching practices. However, some professors favor certain visibility of domestic and foreign scientific communities with respect to items within the current view.

Abstract: The objective of this thesis is to build an integrative model of search behavior and use of information based on the models of Ellis (1989), Krikelas (1983), Kuhlthau (1991), Taylor (1986) and Wilson (1981, 1996 and 1999) and validate it through the application with the information of users not specialized in healthcare (patients, except for students and professionals). The theoretical foundation came from the study of these models, as well as specialized literature in relation to the identification of information needs, search processes and use of information, in addition to addressing the concepts of Information and Health Science, as well as behavioral studies from theoretical psychology area. Through a phenomenological study, we build an integration of models and consolidate the final proposal for a single integrative model of search behavior and use of information. For validation, interviews were conducted in-depth and technical application of the critical incident with General Hospital patients of the Dr. Carls César de Oliveira, in Fortaleza. The theoretical and practical research presented validates the integrative model of search behavior and use of the proposed information as a tool to identify regularities about the search behavior and use of information unskilled users in healthcare and is also capable of application in the study of other audiences, characterized as a general model of search behavior and use of information. This statement stems from the fact that all aspects, phases and stages of the information behavior of the subjects in this study fall (are represented) in the integrative model built, being able to bring these results: the subjects of this research feel the need for information as soon realize a disease in themselves or a family member; they throw themselves in the search for information immediately, even without knowing formal sources of information in the area, through the Web, performing Google searches through popular terms and description of symptoms; at the beginning of the search, they feel insecure for not knowing the most effective words to use in the search strategies, but rely on Google's capability to provide information they deem relevant; they don´t admit, but prefer informal sources of information, which spread testimonials from others who have experienced the same health problems, and are able to identify drugs; there are users who only seek medical attention when they can not find treatment and healing on their own Web; there are users who seek information to better understand and talk about her condition with the doctor; they have urgency in the search for information because they rush in curing the disease not only because of the physical nuisance they cause, but also for fear of losing their jobs due to the delivery of medical certificates and away from social contact with family and friends; the Web is used as a means of access to information that is used for self-diagnosis and self-medication. Research on the search behavior and use of information made from the application of integrative model will bring wider results and provide scientific inputs that can be used by managers of information units at the planning and implementation of products and services.
